When speaking of a car or vehicle, there is one word that is almost guaranteed to appear: transmission. But what exactly is a transmission? What role does it play in the vehicle? Why is it so important?
To start off, transmissions are extremely important in an automobile, because transmissions, also known as a gearbox, gives the vehicle speed and torque from a power source by using rotations that connect to another device by the use of gear ratios.
It connects the output of the internal combustion system to the wheels. Transmissions are generally attached to what is called the “crank shift” of the engine.
Early examples of transmissions include right-angle drives in windmills, horse-powered devices, and also in steam engines. In modern day automobile transmissions however, the driver generally has options between one of a variety of different gear ratios. Most of the gears are intended to slow down output speed and increase the torque. Even so, some of the highest gears may be what is called “overdrive” types, in which case increases the output speed.
Todays world is full of different brands and types of automobiles. One popular brand is known as the Infiniti. The Infiniti’s transmission is one of the vehicles best attributes.
Automotive.com lists several honest reviews on the car. Following are words from actual people testing the Infiniti:
“The manual and automatic transmissions ably handle the engine’s power and power curve. The automatic does its job rather casually at part throttle. Holding the right foot unwaveringly hard to the floor produced sharper, more solid shifts at the engine’s redline. The automatic changes gears the quickest and, interestingly, the smoothest with either the shift lever or the column-mounted paddles and under full throttle… The same electronics deliver smooth downshifts, too, whether in full auto mode or manual override.”
The transmission of the vehicle allows for smooth speed, turns, acceleration as well as deceleration, and an all-in-all comfortable drive. Whether the Infiniti be an automatic, meaning the car shifts accordingly on its own, or a manuel, meaning the driver must shift him or herself at the proper time, the transmission is guaranteed to provide the driver with a ride that satisfies.
